This week we are so excited to talk with Carrie Johnson, Executive Director and Curator of the Rockford Art Museum.
Carrie Johnson has been with Rockford Art Museum since 2006, most recently as Executive Director/Curator, leading the development and innovative implementation of exhibitions while overseeing the care for and management of the RAM Permanent Collection. A Rockford native, she has a deep knowledge of the organization and a passion for supporting and working with artists, having also led education department prior to becoming Curator in 2012—a position she has held longer than anyone else in the 106-year-old history of the contemporary art museum.

The 36,000 sq.ft. Hart Interim Library opened Dec. 2, 2017 and serves as the Rockford Public Library’s main downtown facility. The newly renovated space boasts a 2nd story Children’s Area with dedicated computer lab, Read, Play, Learn program room, and creative play space, a Maker Lab with access to 3D printers and scanners and small board computers a sizable Young Adult Zone with gaming center, adult computer lab, local history room, and 5 private meeting and study rooms accommodating groups of 2-8 people.
