You Are Invited to an Online Documentary and Discussion about Reuniting America
What happened when Trump supporters and Clinton supporters met in a barn in small-town Ohio for a weekend workshop designed by a family therapist?
Only a few months after President Trump took office, the 2017 workshop was the second attempt by a new organization (now known as Braver Angels) to get Americans talking to each other across deep political differences. The difficult conversation and its aftermath have been captured in Braver Angels: Reuniting America, a 50-minute documentary film directed by Emmy-winning Jim Brown and produced by Peter Yarrow of the legendary Peter, Paul, and Mary trio. You'll see diehard political opponents move from initial skepticism about each other to more profound understanding, empathy, and even friendship.
Afterwards, there will be a facilitated discussion about the documentary, the problem of anger, fear, and political polarization as we head toward the 2020 election, and Braver Angels' activities in the Rockford region and throughout Illinois.
