You and your child are invited to enjoy story times and activity worksheets that help support reading comprehension, recall, and even math skills. Snacks will be provided.
Starting August 13 and continuing every other Saturday!
Come to the library for read-a-louds and activities that align with one of Rockford Public Library's Plan for Success Community Strategic Initiatives. As a participant of the 100% OF THIRD GRADERS IN ROCKFORD PASS THE STATEWIDE READING TEST initiative, children, 6-8 years of age, who attend will have books like, "A Friend for Dragon" by Dav Pilkey, "Hello Crabby" by Jonathan Fenske and "Sparkly New Friends" by Heather Ayris Burnell read to them followed by an activity sheet that would enforce skills, such as, comprehension, decoding, and social interaction.
After their hard work, children will get to enjoy a snack that connects to the story of the day.
These books are from Scholastic's "Acorn" line and are a great tool for planting the seed towards a love of reading.
