This is a writing and performance workshop for youths held by international award winning artist and writer Dianna Tyler, Goddess Warrior the Poet.
This workshop is for young people in middle school and high school (ages 11-18). Classes will be held for three consecutive days inside the Black Box Theater on September 26th, 27th & 28th where youths will learn about writing and performing poetry. Workshop classes will go from 6pm to 8pm. On Friday September 30th, there will be an open mic showcase held at the RPL Nordlof Center where the young attendees of the workshop can practice and showcase what they have learned. Dianna Tyler also known as Goddess Warrior The Poet is winner of the 2021 Chicago Music Awards for the Best Spoken Word Artist of the year.
On October 8th 2022, Goddess Warrior The Poet is also hosting a National Poetry Slam Competition at the RPL Nordlof Theater where Professional Poets will compete for cash prizes. Any parent who signs up their child to this workshop can ATTEND THE EVENT FOR FREE!!! Allow the young people to see paid poets showcase their writing ability to further encourage them along the way. The facility at 118 N. Main St. in Rockford spans 30,000 square feet and serves as a versatile space for performances, classes, community gatherings, cultural events, and technology training across the region.
